We recently went to the Parents As Teachers activity for Valentines' Day. There the kids were able to do a lot of fun things. One activity was making an art project out of lots of different things such as pom poms, stickers, colored paper, etc.
They also had some swimming pools with plastic hearts in them so the kids could fish. Michael had a blast and kept going back over and over. Rachael even tried it a few times.
They also had a heart toss which is what Rachael really liked. She would pick up the heart and then put it through the hole in the board. It was also nice that this was set up right next to the fishing pond so the kids could play where they wanted to.
Another art project they had for the kids was to make butterflies out of coffee filters and clothespins. The kids would color on the filters with markers and then spray them with water to make the colors bleed. Then you scrunch them in the middle and put them in the clothespin and there was your butterfly.
I think Rachael had more fun drawing on her hands with the markers instead but she did end up with a beautiful butterfly.
In one corner they had music going for the kids to dance to. Michael really enjoyed being over there and dancing with the instructor and the other kids.
Rachael not so much. She liked watching Michael dance more than actually dancing. She might be a little shy.
Another activity was to try and keep balloons in the air with paper plate paddles. Rachael didn't really understand what she was suppose to do but had fun with the balloon and paddle anyway.
As always, they had a reading section with lots of books. Both kids enjoy stopping there to look at a few books before heading home for the day.
These are a few other random pictures I forgot to include in the last post.
